The lovely Miss Chloe and her new haircut

Truth be told, I get more emails and calls regarding the grooming of Cockapoos than that for the request of Cockapoo puppies…

I try to answer everyone’s email with as much helpful advise as I can but the real problem is that most of these owners are fed up with their grooming service and the hairstyles that they keep having to settle on for their lovely Cockapoos.
I, have thankfully never had to deal with such troubles and have long since decided that the Cockapoo needs to have their own designated looks.
For crying out loud they have been around since the 1950’s if not earlier, its about time the Cockapoo gets it’s respect within the dog world and at the least get it’s own signature look!!!!

I have set and designed several styles to not only make the Cockapoo look good as a breed, but that are also very functional and practical.
The lovely Miss Chloe and the ever adorable Miss Maggie were recently groomed and I thought since their owners were so happy and pleased with the way they were groomed, that it might be helpful to not only share their grooming pictures but to post the information regarding where and who groomed them. My hope with Town and Country has always been to offer up useful information as it pertains to the Cockapoo, and since so many of you have asked about good groomers in or around your area, I have compiled this list of useful resources for grooming.
As I know many of you are eager to have your Cockapoos look just as fashionable.

Please note that I “Town & Country Cockapoos” have only personally used a few of the following groomers. As for the most part I Groom and maintain my own dogs. Therefore do not contact me if you are somehow less than satisfied.
Also note that some of the following groomers have been noted for being able to follow the owners directions and guidelines for the styles featured on my site.

Here are a few pictures of my Cockapoos with the Town & Country “Chic” and “Sport” look. I sometimes tend to take more off or leave more on, around the body or the legs, depending on the season or my preference at the time. I have been working on a detailed feature regarding all of the Town and Country looks and I hope to have it posted here on the Cockapoo blog and on the Cockapoo grooming page on the main site by this summer.
Let me know if you would like for me to recommend any of your favorite Groomers!

I have to admit, this is awesome! The chic look is my favorite! It is so easy for Maddie, my cockapoo, but it still looks so wonderful! It has really helped with the matting too… she hardly gets any at all… even if I neglect to brush her for a few days. And best of all, her gorgeous curls are back, which thrills me!!

Help, I live in Southwick, Massachusetts and have a beloved and precious 4 year old Cockapoo named Link. He looks just like Sophia. I can’t find a groomer that doesn’t freak him out or do a terrible job. Do you know of anyone out this way?

I took my cockapoo Max to be groomed today and it was a disaster. Max is 23 weeks and had only been trimmed by my husband and I but the lady told me that he was very disorderly and needed to be neutred. I don’t think he is a bad dog at all. I have been brushing him up on the dryer to try to get him used to being up on a table but oh well. He has been very pouty since we got home. She also told me that cockers were hard to get to mind . I felt like I had been to the principals office. We make Max mind and he is a very good dog. I had read that cockapoos were very good pets to have. I love Max and do not think he is disorderly at all. Would you go back there or no?

    Hi Nikki,

Some groomers can be a bit moody and temperamental… They have a lot of dogs to deal with, many different types of personalities and a high demand put on them for great expectations. But, overall a groomer should be nice to you (the owner) and great with your dog (s). They should also keep you informed of how things went and give tips on how to make things better…

I would say that you might want to give him/her another try before you discount them, but if you feel like it’s never going to be the right fit between you, your dog and the groomer then you should go somewhere else…

Remember that looking for a great groomer is hard. You might want to talk to someone who owns a Cockapoo in or around your area and see if they are happy with their groomer and the type of haircuts they receive? Also poodle groomers are great with grooming Cockapoos.

Lastly, Cockapoos are great dogs and if trained well they can be amazing pets and the perfect companion.
